SCS Musicals is hiring a Guest Director!

Production: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Location: Port Perry, ON
Production Type: Community Theatre
Compensation: Honorarium provided

We are seeking a visionary, creative director for our April 2027 production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Town Hall 1873 Theatre!

 This high-energy musical requires a creative leader who can manage a vibrant, multi-generational ensemble. The production will feature a cast of mostly adult performers alongside a dedicated youth/teen choir, performing live at the historic Town Hall 1873 Theatre.

We are also interested in hearing from choreographers, music directors and other production talents for work on this and future productions with SCS Musicals!

 

Key Dates & Timeline
  •  Application Deadline: June 30, 2026
  • Auditions: Fall 2026 (Dates TBD)
  • Rehearsal Period: Commencing January 31, 2027 (Sundays 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Mondays 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Wednesdays 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
  • Rehearsal Location: Town Hall 1873 Theatre
  • Production Run: April 9–18, 2027 at Town Hall 1873 Theatre

 Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a cohesive artistic vision for this classic musical. Let's tell this well-loved story in a fresh way!
  • Lead auditions and casting in collaboration with the production team.
  • Run efficient, encouraging rehearsals for a mixed adult and youth cast.
  • Collaborate closely in partnership with the Music Director, Choreographer, and designers.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe environment for all actors and volunteers.

 Qualifications

  • Previous experience directing musical theatre.
  • Strong leadership skills suited for community theatre and volunteer performers.
  • Experience or comfort working with multi-generation (adult, youth and teen) ensembles.
